We tourists only go there in the summer.  Nice to have long days.  Up through the inside passage, stopping at Juneau, to enjoy the rain and watch whales.  Then disembark at Skagway.  More rain, but it just seemed right in this place.  Up over the pass via the Yukon and White River RR.  Into the Yukon, past the miniature desert at Carcross to stay at White Horse, then cross-country to Fairbanks.  A late-day excursion to the Arctic Circle, then by train to Denali National Park (and a rare sunny day to see Denali itself plus the other mountain tops), and end up at Anchorage.  We take a side trip to Seward and explore the glacial fjords.  We left so very impressed with the land of the midnight sun.
